On December, 26 VSTU was visited by the head of administration of the Volgograd region A. G. Brovko. Despite it was a Saturday day, the governor decided to be the first to congratulate rector I. A. Novakov on election the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the first vice-rector on election as a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who had just come back from Moscow.
But at first the governor congratulated all the collective of high school, having underlined that year 2011 is one of the most significant for Technical University which has reached excellent results in different fields of activity. Then, addressing to I. A. Novakov and V. I. Lysak, the head of the region noticed that with their initiative and abilities which they showed in the organization and carrying out of XIX Mendeleev Congress on General and Applied Chemistry, which took place in Volgograd, a lot of people saw, what authority the high school has. And the fact that Ivan Aleksandrovich Novakov has become the academician and Vladimir Ilich Lysak — a corresponding member is a token event. First of all, the governor underlined that it is, of course, recognition of their scientific merits, their authority in scientific community. But it is still of great importance for the region —it is the first time in the Volgograd region the scientist has become the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
